Today we would like to welcome WHEELS 6th graders to the Sharpe Reservation. The first thing we do after getting off the bus is have a big circle in the field below Camp ABC. It is with this circle that we set the tone for the Crew Orientation course. After the large circle the students break into their crews, or groups they will be with for the next 4 days. Each crew has 2 Outward Bound instructors and a crew advisor, or teacher from school.
Once in their crews, students go through some team building activities as you can see in the photos. It is time for a turkey sandwich lunch and finally duffle shuffle. In their crews, students get all the clothes they will ever need by size in our dining hall. One poly pro top, one bottom, a fleece sweater, fleece pants, rain top and bottom, a hat, mittens, 2 pairs of wool socks and a warm sleep sheet that goes in their sleeping bags. Students shuffle their personal clothes with Outward Bound clothes to ensure their warmth and comfort.
