Community Leaders Day 2: Training to Main

This morning is an idyllic fall day, with clear blue skies, a brilliant sun and turning leaves. Mr. Ahmed's, Mr. LeWinter's and Mr. Kosciol's crews are all heading out on their backpacking trip. All three crews learned how and what to pack in addition to bringing all the supplies they will need, like food, stoves, tarps and more. One photo shows Ray who is all set to hit the trails.

Alba from Mr. LeWinter's crew is using her Crew Orientation journal that has a youth-friendly diagram of how to pack a backpack. The journal guides our curriculum for this course and is full of vital information, broken into chapters. The chapters include: Community, Outdoor Living, Environment, Team Challenge, High Challenge, Expeditions, Navigation, Solo and much more. Crews learn how to live together and to communicate with each other by learning tools throughout the course.
