Mc Cown: Late Afternoon

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

This afternoon, students put on their warm clothes and learned how to work together in their crews. Some did this by playing games and others learned how to solve problems together. I was able to join Mr. Sprague's crew for a while and play some games with them. They are well on their way to becoming a highly proficient crew.

This evening, students at McCown learned how to cook outside. Each crew has roles that are rotated daily so that each crew member gets to practice something new to them. Typical roles include leaders, chefs, journalists, leave no trace experts, navigators to name a few. Each person has a role and together they must function together to make this course work. By Friday, most crews happily report that they now feel like a family that will be part of their lives for the rest of thier high school career.
